KKN Gurugram Desk | In a tragic incident that has once again highlighted the relentless threats faced by India’s border security personnel, BSF Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiyaz, a native of Chhapra in Bihar, was martyred on Saturday following unprovoked firing by Pakistan along the International Border (IB) in the RS Pura sector of Jammu. The incident also left seven other BSF personnel injured, according to official sources.

The entire village of Narayanpur in the Garkha police station area of Chhapra has been plunged into mourning following the heartbreaking news. While grief hangs heavy in the air, there is also an overwhelming sense of pride and honor that their son laid down his life for the nation.

Details of the Cross-Border Incident

According to a senior Border Security Force (BSF) official, the firing occurred on Saturday evening, when Pakistani Rangers targeted Indian posts along the RS Pura sector. In the exchange of fire, Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiyaz led from the front and was critically injured. He later succumbed to his injuries, making the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

“Sub-Inspector Imtiyaz demonstrated exceptional bravery, leading his team from the front. His sacrifice for the country will never be forgotten,” said the BSF in an official statement.

Seven other jawans who sustained injuries were immediately evacuated and are currently undergoing treatment at a nearby military hospital. Their condition is being closely monitored.

Who Was Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiyaz?

Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiyaz, aged 37, hailed from Narayanpur village, under Garkha block of Chhapra district, Bihar. Known for his dedication, discipline, and courage, Imtiyaz had served in the BSF for over 15 years. His colleagues described him as a calm yet determined officer, always ready to take responsibility during critical operations.

Imtiyaz is survived by his wife, two children, elderly parents, and siblings. His family had always taken immense pride in his role in safeguarding the nation, and while their grief is profound, their respect for his bravery is unshakable.

Mourning in Narayanpur Village, Chhapra

As the news reached Narayanpur, the atmosphere in the village turned somber. Family members, neighbors, and friends gathered at the martyr’s residence to offer condolences and pay their respects. Wails of grief mixed with chants of “Shaheed Imtiyaz Amar Rahein” echoed across the locality.

The family has been informed that his mortal remains are expected to reach the village by Sunday evening, following full military honors. The district administration has begun preparations for a ceremonial guard of honor.

Local residents, while grieving, expressed deep pride in Imtiyaz’s sacrifice.

“He was a true son of Bihar. He has brought honor to our village, even in death,” said a grieving but proud elder from the community.

Political and Administrative Response

Local leaders and administrative officials have reached out to the family. The District Magistrate of Chhapra, along with senior police officers, visited the family to offer support and assure state assistance.

Leaders from various political parties also issued condolences, urging the central government to take a strong stance against continuous ceasefire violations by Pakistan.

Pattern of Ceasefire Violations

The incident comes amidst a fragile ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, announced just a day before this violation. The timing has raised concerns about Pakistan’s commitment to peace, especially in the backdrop of previous drone attacks and infiltration attempts post-ceasefire.

Ceasefire violations along the India-Pakistan border, especially in Jammu and Kashmir, have been a persistent issue, with hundreds of such instances recorded every year. These violations not only endanger the lives of border security forces but also threaten civilian populations in the surrounding villages.

Public Sentiment and National Reaction

The martyrdom of Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiyaz has triggered a wave of emotion across Bihar and the nation. Social media platforms are filled with messages of tribute, solidarity, and anger over continued Pakistani aggression.

#JusticeForImtiyaz and #SaluteToMartyrs began trending on Twitter and other platforms, as netizens called for a firmer response to ceasefire breaches.

Various ex-servicemen organizations and citizen groups have also demanded better protective equipment and proactive retaliation policies to minimize casualties among frontline forces.

The Ultimate Sacrifice

The death of Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiyaz is a grim reminder of the price of national security. He is not just another name on the martyr list — he is a symbol of courage, honor, and commitment that inspires millions across the country.

His sacrifice reaffirms the unwavering resolve of India’s armed forces to protect the sovereignty of the nation, no matter the cost.

The martyrdom of BSF Sub-Inspector Mohammad Imtiyaz will be remembered as a beacon of valor and sacrifice. As India grapples with repeated ceasefire violations, the nation stands united in mourning and in demanding justice. From the quiet lanes of Narayanpur village to the high walls of India’s defense institutions, his name will echo as a reminder of what it truly means to serve the motherland.
